A fashion comeback no one saw coming – or did we? As I was attending show after show and looking through all the new collections, I couldn’t help but notice the reemergence of one distinct, infamous silhouette: The peplum. Body-con to flare out at the waist \u2013 Millennials thought they’d never recover and with Gen Z side-eyeing all the fashion trends happening between 2008 and 2018, I never thought I’d see the day again and yet here we are. Peplums are back. Suddenly I regret ridding myself of my own tops with the flared hips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So let us take a closer look at peplums and their comeback…<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Quick Lesson In History<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The silhouette mainly stems from the 1940s and 1950s and was made especially popular by Christian Dior’s New Look. The little flare at the hip was often incorporated in tailored jackets and dresses to add feminine touches during a Post-War “mend-and-make-do” fashion. <\/p>\n\n\n
