Everyone is talking about it, has been talking about it and will be talking about it for months to come (right until the next rounds). Paris Fashion Week / the Fashion Month dominates the minds and major capitals all around the globes. There is one questions some might ask themselves though:

What is Paris Fashion Week about? I, Amelie Klewe will share a little insight

Fashion weeks have of course practical reasons, the so called business side to the. New collections are being presented for buyers, shoppers, influencers and of course the press to see and rave about. However that alone is not profitable enough. So why do we still see everyone who has a little bit of self-respect and interest in fashion making a pilgrimage to the multimillion Euros expensive fashion shows twice a year?

In two words: the dream. The shows are about brand visibility and reinforcing their status within the fashion industry and making everyone who sees them dream in the same language.

Reemami

The Reemami Spring Summer 2024 collection named “Vivid Vortex” was inspired by immersive surf skating and the feeling of being alive, as one could see in the colour palette and fun yet dynamic shapes. I highly appreciated how Reema worked with colours and different patterns, creating a youthful yet not childish collection where every look still held a certain sophisticated element to them and harmonised beautifully with the other designs. I strongly felt the positive energies watching this show.

Tiscareno

The Tiscareno Couture 2024 collection combined ancient beauty with contemporary aesthetics. In the designs, the past, present and future have been combined with the goal in mind to represent timeless femininity. From baroque ballgowns with exaggerated hips and feathers to crystal fabrics clutching curves – this show was filled with beautiful contrasts and the eclectic colours made this collection modern and exciting. The designer of the brand, Manuel Tiscareno said himself that the collection is about the idea that self-expression is timeless and how infinite possibilities arise when we break free form the constraints of the present.

Lucas Anderi

The Lucas Anderi Spring/Summer 2024 collection was inspired by singer and actress Carmen Miranda and started with none other than the Brazilian model and singer Barbara Fialho, delivering the soundtrack strutting down the catwalk with a microphone in hand herself. This added a very unique touch which made the presentation of the collection so much more personal and somewhat engaging. The looks showed lots of vibrant colours and floral designs representing the Portuguese-Brazilian who made her tutti-frutti hat world famous.

Naz Maer

The Naz Maer show seemed like an ode to the Golden Twenties with crystal embellished gowns everywhere. Matching fringes evoke fantasies of dancing and twirling through the night. As first and last models the designer had walk two girls in children’s versions of the outfits offering the opportunity for glamorous mommy-and-me dressing.

Hian Tjen

Hian Tjen’s couture 2024 collection “The Seed” was an homage to the Indonesian designer’s beginnings in fashion, reflecting on the journey he has made from where he started to where he is now. The designs were supported by gold metal pieces which have been created by couture accessories designer and close friend Rinaldy Yunardi. Every look was very feminine and full of floral motifs which have been either added via embroidery or 3d flowers. Putting it in a nutshell, this was a collection so special, it could bring a fairytale tear from even the most unbelieving of women – it definitely did not leave my eyes dry.

Arunaz

The Arunaz collection let the designer fro Kazakhstan show her Eastern influences while giving them a modern touch resulting in a captivating collection. Every outfit came with unique and artistic jewellery for the mouth or forehead which added to the idea of a very mystique show filled with dramatic silhouettes reminding one almost of a dramatic vampire’s wedding.

RDNT

The RDNT SS24 collection “Birth Of The Universe” at Paris Fashion Week marked the brand’s debut show and what a debut it has been. Modern and dynamic cuts and unique designs like a jacket in the shape of an eye with one being printed on it or a fully round earth-like jacket delivered the brand’s message of representing the energy that drives evolution, renewal and new life on Earth. The collection was not lacking in various asymmetric shapes for both men and women. Star guest model was Alina Baikova who delivered a supreme performance as always and radiated the young brand’s powerful energy.

If these shows have not given you an answer yet you might never understand. But for those who felt the joy, the excitement, the beauty and the poetry behind these collections you will hold the answer within your heart. Because for several weeks two times a year, designers worldwide spark inspiration and open their dream universe to us, inviting us to be a part of a world that is a little bit prettier and a little bit brighter, one that lets us be whoever and whatever we aspire.
